The disability service system is complicated, confusing, and often far harder to navigate than it should be. If you’re overwhelmed by acronyms, paperwork, waitlists, eligibility rules, or simply trying to figure out what comes next, that doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Sometimes a little information, a second set of eyes, or someone to help you find the next step can make an enormous difference. I know because I’ve sat on the same side of the table—trying to make sense of the system while also being a parent and wanting the best possible life for my child. You don’t have to know everything. You just need to know where to turn when you need some help.
